Independent Living Communities

Independent Living Communities

no care, Independent, minimal assistance

There are different types of Independent Living Communities, from home-like settings with shared or private room options to apartments in a facility, which range in cost and services provided.

Most Independent Living Communities are comprised of seniors who are able to live independently and perform everyday activities of daily living but want the security of a shared community, the services/amenities provided including meal preparation, laundry, cleaning services, etc and the option to access assistance when needed. Some Independent Living Communities are primarily for seniors while others serve adults of all ages.

These communities offer a solution for seniors looking to simplify their lives, individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their personal life that makes it challenging to live alone, people suffering from mental illness and other disabilities and low income individuals who are in need of affordable housing and supportive services, rather transitional or long term. Most Independent Living communities do not offer medical care or nursing staff but can connect their residents with home care services if needed.
